GUM Treatment
-
Gum diseases, technically called periodontal diseases, often result in tooth loss in
adults. Even though genetically inherited gum diseases are common, gum diseases are mostly the result of poor individual dental hygiene. Gum Diseases have symptoms like painless
inflammation as well as infection of the tissues that support teeth.
Gum diseases are caused by toxins produced by the bacteria in plaque. In
the initial stages of gum disease (also called gingivitis), gums turn red, swollen
and bleed. Over a period of time, the bones below the teeth also get infected and
start to dissolve. In advanced
periodontal cases, dentists often use treatments like bone grafting and guided tissue regeneration.
